The jambiya, or dagger, is called jambiya because it is fastened to the right or left side of a man’s body, by means of a belt of cloth or leather that is tightly tied around the waist, which is the most common appearance, and it is also fastened to the middle of the body.
The jambiya is one of the symbols of culture in southern Saudi Arabia and is part of the traditional dress . It is worn in folk games , social occasions and holidays.
